Umhali Village Market
The sugar village of Umhlali buzzed today with the very first Umhlali Village Market.
We arrived to the sounds of the world’s smallest harmonica and left listening to the
wonderful tunes sung by the Vernon Malyon.
WOW, what a market. Vernon not only can you sing but you brought real character back to the village, that once oozed it.
The very well known Cindy was there with fresh veggies, the bread man had already sold out by the time I got there, and the cheese lady was almost sold out. Delicious coffee was available as well as cupcakes and a variety of other fresh foods. 85 stallholders were there with a great mix of craft, handmade decor, fashion accessories, clothing, food and beauty products.
Young and old enjoyed coffee and music under the beautiful trees near what used to be the station.
Well done, Vernon, I know what hard work it is to run and organise a market like this and wish you the very best. Your commitment to community and trying to re-vitalise this village is very admirable.
